The app is quick and easy to install and maintain and is available for purchase for $150. Conclusion: The best application is difficult to choose each differs in some way and offers a different service. It all depends on your budget, and whether it is active or passive candidates you are targeting. Most of the apps offer a free basic plan which offer some good features, however if additional features are required there are a range of options, catering for different needs and budgets. Its all down to how many you need to recruit, and how much youre willing to spend. Have you tried any of these? Any good/bad points? Please let us know! [This post  has been updated, the older version of this article included the app BranchOut, which you may remember as one  of the original recruitment applications on Facebook. However, with shifting focus and new applications on the market, BranchOut failed to be a success and is no longer available.]

How to quit a job 5 steps and 2 warnings

How to quit a job 5 steps and 2 warnings On some level, its fun to quit a job. Its fun to remind people that they dont own you. Its fun to feel that burst of freedom as you walk out the door. But its no fun if you dont quit right. Before you quit, you need a semi-plan for what youll do next: You will either work or play. Pick one. You cannot pick sitting in front of the TV because it is lame and you will be sorry. If you pick work, then get another job lined up before you quit, because getting a job while you have a job means that your company paid you to job hunt. If you choose to play, make sure you have enough money to play in a way that will actually be fun. One of my most misguided attempts at play was when I took a trip to France and ended up earning room and board by chopping off chicken heads. Before you quit you also need to make sure the job is the problem. Maybe you are the problem and you are blaming everything on the job so you dont have to look at yourself. The Occupational Adventure offers a good way to take a look at your life to see whats really holding you back. Do an honest assessment. If your job is not holding you back, then deal with what is, while youre gainfully employed. Self-examination is always easier to do when you can pay your rent. If you really do think quitting is the right decision, heres how to tell your boss: 1. Be kind, even if you hate your boss, because your boss is not your boss anymore. She is part of your network. And some people who are jerks to work for are actually nice and fun outside of work. You dont know until you try. So hedge your bets and be gracious on the way out, even if you dont feel that way. 2. Make sure your boss knows that this is a good move for you. Even if youre not sure if its a good move, tell your boss that it is. We all need to believe in ourselves, or else who will? 3. Put it in writing. Why are there six thousand examples of resignation letters on the Internet? You are not Winston Churchill. You can write one sentence: Im leaving this company on [date]. If you want to tell your boss how much you hate her, see rule number one. If you want to nail your boss for illegal behavior, see a lawyer. Dont tell the company how to fix itself. You are leaving. If they care about your input so much they can pay you as a consultant. Which they will not, because they do not care. 4. If you want a counter-offer, give your boss enough notice to come up with one before you leave. A counter-offer is much less likely to come after youre gone. 5. Show gratitude for what your boss has done for you. A personal thank you note is a good way to leave because your boss can reread it all the time and remember only the good things about you. This will help when you call your boss for a favor like when you need a reference. Also, people who express gratitude are happier than those who dont. The National Institute of Healthcare Research reports, People who regularly practice grateful thinking reap emotional, physical and interpersonal benefits. So find something nice to say about your boss and youll feel great as you walk out the door.

On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Channel Your Inner Lady Gaga for a Great Career

On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Channel Your Inner Lady Gaga for a Great Career What can Lady Gaga and Led Zeppelin teach you about career and business success? Peter Cook believes quite a bit. As the author of The Music of Business, and head of the Academy of Rock in the U.K., Cook looks at artists such as David Bowie and Alice Cooper and finds lessons he believes will transform the way you do business. In an interview with Anita Bruzzese, Cook talks about how we can glean business wisdom from our music idols. AB:Why do you feel the connection needs to be made between music and business? PC:Music and business are traditionally seen as separate subjects at school, yet this is an artificial division. Music is applied physics and many great scientists and mathematicians are often musically inclined. Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein and Richard Branson are all great examples of leaders who have a passion for music. So, I set out to draw parallel lessons between business and the arts, specifically music. I found many such parallels in areas of business such as strategic thinking, creativity, innovation and theleadership of change.Ive set these out in the book The Music of Business and its predecessor Sex, Leadership and RocknRoll. AB: You say that Lady Gaga can teach us about business strategy. How so? PC:In the book I have a chapter containing five lessons that we can learn from Lady Gaga on business strategy and social media. While Gaga is undoubtedly a music sensation, its also true that she has respected her elders and stood on the shoulders of giants such as Madonna and glam rockers such as Queen and Alice Cooper to craft her music, stage performance and image. This has given her wider appeal across generations and is likely to ensure that she lasts longer than most people in the music business today. The other clever trick Gaga has used is to(read more here)

This is how a side hustle can revolutionise your career - Debut

This is how a side hustle can revolutionise your career - Debut Some people are completely baffled. They say, That doesnt make any sense. Why would  extra work outside of my job change my work life for the better? or I barely have any spare time to myself outside of work, so a side hustle isnt realistic or feasible. What youre not considering, my friends, is how a side hustle can make you happier. Heres a little secret: your day job doesnt have a responsibility to make you happy. Yes, we may be hearing more and more about free beers on Fridays, wellness Wednesdays and office slides. However,  can we honestly say these things make us happier at work? Theres a toxic assumption that youre failing if youre not doing your dream job. The truth? Most people are not 100% happy about their 9-5, and if they say they are,  hate ta break it to ya, theyre probably lying. Chasing happiness is an inherently human trait. We crave it. We also associate happiness with our own sense of success, which is why we beat ourselves up if were feeling dissatisfied. Your day job might not be able to help you achieve job satisfaction. But here are seven reasons why a side hustle just might. 1. Having a side hustle allows you to chase your secret passions When you were a kid, you probably had a completely different idea of what you would be doing when you grew up. I, for one, wanted to be an archaeologist, and dreamed of having a bull-whip a la Indiana Jones. Admittedly, my interests have evolved since then. The principle still applies: there are still interests and pursuits I dont get to act on in my day job. If you love knitting, why not try selling your lovingly crafted creations? Interested in something niche? Start a blog about it you could eventually build up beneficial partnerships with other bloggers and small companies. Love working out? Why not create an e-book you can sell on Amazon about your top tips? 2. Do what you love and you never have to work a day in your life Youve probably heard that one before. Here, we take that adage and apply it to side hustles: if youre not doing what you love in your day job, you can do so in your side hustles. This way, your side projects arent framed in your mind as work, but rather as a form of beneficial extended play. Who doesnt want that? 3. Itll improve your  leadership skills If youre not in a management position in your day job, your side hustle could be the boost you need. Setting up your own side project or business often requires you to be your own boss or co-boss. Whether its kicking your own butt when it comes to your deadlines, or learning how to work with a partner, learning how to take charge is a truly useful business skill to have. 4. A side hustle actually helps you hustle more in your day job Side hustles are well-known for being super-motivational. Doing something youre legitimitely interested in after office hours has a knock-on effect on your in-office productivity. Fact. Beyond that, side hustles could help bridge any skill gaps you may have in your current job. An example: when I applied to work here at Debut, I had very little experience in email marketing. So, I set up my own email newsletter as a side hustle in order to practice. 5. You get to work where you want, when you want Theres nothing like the freedom you feel when you get out of the office. You can work on your side hustle in your favourite café on the weekend, on a park bench overlooking a duck pond, or wrapped up in a mermaid blanket on your couch. It is also totally up to you as to when you carve out the time to work on your extra projects. 12.32pm after a boozy brunch for a couple of hours? Sounds pretty good to me. 6. They could become an extra source of income Now, this seems fairly obvious. However, the reason why I didnt put this point higher up on the list is because additional income from side hustles should be seen as a bonus, rather than a main goal. Ultimately, if youve established your side hustle enough it could become a really powerful extra source of dolla for you. However, the caveat is that this may take some time to set up. You should always set up side hustles with the end goal of monetisation, though. A little boost to your bank account never hurts! 7. Side hustles can help you know thyself Exploring your passions and figuring out whether they truly suit you is a total win-win situation. You get to learn so much more about something that was previously just an interest, after all. Besides that, having a side hustle teaches you resillience, organisation, and perhaps, if it is the right fit, will tell you so much about how you want to shape your legacy. So hustle on, Debutants. We cant wait to see you shine. Images via Pexels, Unsplash Download the Debut app and  get Talent-Spotted by amazing graduate employers! Connect with Debut on Facebook and Twitter
